The City’s Community Garden has moved to the north east corner of 4th Avenue and 15th Street on the west side of Highway 61. There are 16 individual garden plots that can be rented out. The 10 foot by 10 foot plots are $20 each and the 5 foot by 10 foot plots are $10 each. Each plot also requires a $20 deposit.

In addition to the 16 plots, there is 1 plot that acts as a giving garden. All vegetation grown in the giving garden is donated to the Friends in Need Food Shelf.

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers are needed for the Newport Giving Garden at the Community Garden. All of the produce grown in the Giving Garden is donated to the Friends In Need Foodshelf, which serves Newport, St Paul Park, and Cottage Grove. Volunteers don’t need to be an experienced gardener, amateurs and newbies are welcome. Additionally, work times are flexible (day, early evening, weekends) and don’t require an on-going commitment. Help is most needed in July and August. If you are interested in volunteering at the Newport Giving Garden, please contact Marge, at or City Hall at (651) 459-5677.

If you have any questions, please contact City Hall at (651) 459-5677.
