2012 Elections

The State Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 14th from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 6th from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Newport has one voting precinct and the polling place is at Newport Elementary, located at 851 6th Avenue.

The City of Newport will have two City Council positions and the Mayor position (four-year terms) on the ballot during the November General Election. Persons interested in running for office may file at Newport City Hall. The candidate filing period opens at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31st and closes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14th. The candidate withdrawal period opens at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15th and closes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 16th.
