Once again, it’s time for the City’s annual get-together celebration! This year’s festivities will take place on Sunday, August 10th, at Pioneer Memorial Park and is jam-packed with fun! Below is a schedule of events for the day:

  • Parade at 11:00 a.m. - The fun will kick off with a parade beginning at Newport Fire Hall, 155 20th Street. The parade will make its way down to 4th Avenue to Pioneer Park where Pioneer Day will take place.
  • Live Music from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. -  Lolo’s Ghost will be performing from 12:00 to 2:10 p.m. and plays soulful rock. Saint Anyway will be performing from 2:40 to 5:00 p.m. and plays a mix of folk rock and bluegrass.
  • Balloon Artist from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. - A balloon artist will walk around Pioneer Day making balloon animals for free!
  • Raffle Drawing at 5:00 p.m. - The raffle drawing will take place at 5:00 p.m. in the Bingo Pavilion. See below for information on how to enter the raffle.
  • Elvis Impersonator at 5:30 p.m. - Chris Olson's Memories of Elvis Show is back by popular demand and will close out the celebration at 5:30 p.m.


As usual, there will be food, vendors, games, bingo, inflatables, a car show and the St. Paul Park-Newport Lions Club's beer and wine tent. All you can eat corn on the cob will be available with the purchase of a Pioneer Day button, which are now available at City Hall, the Library and Community Center, North Pole Restaurant, Newport Drug, South Suburban Rental, and John Bartl Hardware. You may purchase a button for $3, or 4 for $10. The buttons are also used for the raffle drawing that will take place at 5:00 p.m. in the Bingo Pavilion. Individuals do not need to be present for the raffle drawing, winning numbers will be placed on the City's website, Facebook page, and Channels 16 and 18.
