PARKS MAINTENANCE
The Parks Maintenance division of
the Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and repairs that
are made in all of Newport's parks, park buildings, park equipment, and
trails to ensure their
longevity in the community. The Parks Maintenance division services 173 acres
of parkland that includes the following maintenance:
- Mowing, trimming, and chipping in six City parks, three overlooks, pond
areas, four pedestrian bridges, Red Rock Cemetery, all City public facilities,
and nine miles of paved walking trails and seven miles of unpaved walking trails
in Newport Bailey School Forest and Loveland Parks
- Dragging and striping of ball fields twice weekly
- Emptying trash receptacles daily on the City's park and trail system
- Painting, repairing, removing graffiti, washing tables and floors of park
pavilions, grills, and playground equipment
- Repairing warming houses
- Preparatory work, board repair, groundwork, snow removal, sweeping,
flooding, and fencing for rinks
- Weeding, watering, and signage of river overlooks and wall gardens along
Hastings Avenue
