In 2011, the City celebrated the Civil War Sesquicentennial. During this celebration, the City dedicated the Newport Veterans Memorial in Pioneer Park. The Veterans Memorial will consist of two elements the twenty-five foot flagpole and the second element: a circular plaza made of brick pavers inscribed with the names of individuals, living and deceased, who served honorably in the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard.

Bricks are available for sponsorship at City Hall for $75. Individuals can sponsor one or several of the Officers that enlisted and served in Company B - Third Minnesota Volunteer Infantry during 1861 and 1865. Click here to view a list of those men.
