Fire Department

New Building All Apparatus Leaving v3The Newport Fire Department was established in 1953. The Fire Department is comprised of 22 paid-on-call firefighters and is responsible for responding to emergencies in Newport and surrounding communities.  The Fire Department is also involved in public safety education, fire prevention programs and community events.  The Newport Fire Department serves our community with pride, integrity and professionalism.

The Newport Fire Department has wide ranging Mutual Aid Agreements, including all departments within Washington, Dakota and St. Croix counties.  Newport Fire also participates in the Statewide Mutual Aid plan.  In addition, Newport Fire has Auto-Aid agreements with St. Paul Park Fire and Cottage Grove Fire & EMS.  Auto-Aid means that for any structure fire in Newport, St Paul Park Fire, Cottage Grove Fire, and a Cottage Grove Ambulance are paged at the same time as Newport Fire, significantly reducing the amount of time it takes to get additional resources on the road when needed most.  Newport Fire also provides Auto-Aid to both St. Paul Park Fire and Cottage Grove Fire.
