Dog Licenses
The City requires all dogs over six months of age be licensed.  Licenses are renewed annually at City Hall. Licenses are $10 if purchased by January 31st. After that, the fee is $20, except for new residents and new dogs. A current rabies vaccination must be presented at the time of purchase.

Animals Running At Large
Per City Ordinance, no owner shall permit any dog, farm animal, wild or exotic animal to run at large. Failure to comply with this ordinance may result in the impounding of the animal and/or a citation. Any charges incurred in the transport of an animal for impounding will be charged to the owner or person responsible for the animal.  If an officer finds a dog with a City license, the officer will attempt to return the animal to its property before resorting to impounding the dog.

Pets in Parks
Pets are allowed in Newport parks if they are controlled by a leash.  When in public areas, pet owners must clean up after their pet.  Pet owners must control their pet so that it does not disturb others.
